CABA invites its Toronto and surrounding area members to a cocktail networking event to be held on October 24, 2013 at MERCATTO @ Bay & Adelaide, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Open bar & hors d’oeuvres. We look forward to seeing everyone!
Hosted by CABA’s Canadian representatives, Monique Couture of Gowlings and Daniel Bourque of Xerox. Please R.S.V.P. by October 21st to Monique at monique.couture@gowlings.com.
CABA is currently in discussions with the New York City Bar Association about participating in the organization of a CLE program on cross-border issues to be held in the Fall 2013 or Winter 2014.
We have been asked to canvas our membership for cross-border-related topics or issues that are top of mind currently for cross-border legal practitioners.
We have received numerous requests from law students and/or young lawyers with Canadian/US ties for mentors with similar cross-border backgrounds who can help them navigate their career paths.
We expect mentor responsibilities would not exceed an hour a month and appreciate all volunteers. Each of the CABA Board of Directors will be taking on a mentor role.
We hope the new mentor program will help to promote networking within the CABA community.
Congratulations to Sarah Robertson, a partner at the law firm Dorsey & Whitney in NYC on becoming the new President of the Canadian American Bar Association (CABA) effective January 1, 2013.
Joining her will be Daniel Bourque (Senior Corporate Counsel and Chief Privacy Office at Xerox Canada, Toronto) as CABA’s Vice President, Canada.
We still have open nominations for Vice President (U.S.) and Secretary/Treasurer of CABA. If interested please contact me at president@canambar.com
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
David
