Marko co-founded the Canadian American Bar Association, and has served as its first President. Marko also serves as a director of MAPLE, the Canadian-U.S Business Council of Southern California. He grew up in Hamilton, Ontario and studied electrical engineering and management at McMaster University. During engineering he interned at IBM Canada in Toronto. After graduating from McMaster, Marko attended Osgoode Hall Law School and summered at Sim, Hughes, Ashton, and McKay LLP.
Marko is a partner at Knobbe Martens, LLP in Irvine, California and represents clients in all types of intellectual property disputes, including those involving patents, trademarks, trade secrets, and related unfair competition claims. He has represented clients in district courts throughout the U.S. Marko is also a registered patent attorney.
Marko’s cases have involved a vast array of technologies and products, including consumer electronic devices, medical devices, semiconductor processing, computer systems, computer software, internal combustion engines, and industrial devices. He has also represented many clients in non-technical disputes relating to trademarks. In a survey of his peers published in Super Lawyers magazine, Marko was named as one of Southern California’s “Rising Stars” in intellectual property law (2014).
Marko is an author of numerous intellectual property articles, including co-authoring an article appearing in the Canadian Intellectual Property Review: “An Overview of U.S. Patent Litigation for Canadians,” 28 Canadian Intellectual Property Review 1, 2012.
Marko also founded and is the past President of the Croatian-American Bar Association, and also co-founded and is the current President of the Association of Croatian-American Professionals.
Marko joined Knobbe Martens in 2003 and became a partner in 2010.
